You're not the same person.

Stop looking for the old you.

That person no longer exists.

You are now a person who has survived x number of months of a deadly virus that did not exist one year ago.

You have learned words like "epidemiologist" and "contact tracing".

You've learned how to live without shopping, without cinema and theater, without public restrooms.

You're living in an era where the definition of "the new normal" shifts daily.

You've alternated between hope and misery, between optimism and disgust, from joy to great sorrow. You've experienced this before--all your life, in fact--but now you're really, REALLY aware.

You are not the same person you were a year ago.

As of this writing, a vaccine for covid 19 is being administered in the UK. In months, it will be widely available globally. In a few years--if we are fortunate--we will be able to say the words, "During the 2020 pandemic, we endured..."

You've endured.

You're enduring.

You will continue to endure.

How are you enduring?

Write the music. Compose the aria. Record the rap. Hum out the melody. Go ahead...right now, how does this knowledge musically manifest for you?

Create a playlist that perfectly captures the spirit of what you have experienced. Who would be on this playlist? Make sure to include the music of your friends.

See? You can feel it.

You are not the same person you were.

Your inner music is emerging, always.
